At first it wasn't Higher Grounds, it was a bunch of seniors in high school & freshmen just starting college that gathered once a month in Breanna's living room for a night of worship & hearing the gospel. Until one night, the crowd and the parking became to be too much, and Breanna had to shut down the worship gathering taking place in her home. Breanna had to pray and search her heart for what to do next and where to go. At that point, God gave her a vision to do bigger things. At first, she was not willing because of fear of failure and rejection. She wanted to keep it at home because that was where she was most comfortable, but God had other plans.
After two years, Breanna and her team are at home in the walls of Bethel's Coffeehouse known as "Higher Grounds", and she is very thankful she obeyed God's calling and His plan. She is blessed to call herself the founder of Higher Grounds.
Higher Grounds is for our generation and the next. The heartbeat of it is a movement in the Northside of greater Houston area to awaken the hearts of 18-30 year olds because we are losing them. This is the age that is the hardest to reach, but I believe in community which brings young adults together.
We gather once a month on a Friday night to do life to life with one another. Within community they will gather and find Jesus within each other through conversation, worship, and the message.
